I was reflecting on my previous post:
"It is said that at a reunion such as this one, we'll all being thinking about each other: 'I can't be as old as *you* look!' I guess we shall see."
I decided that this only applies to the guys, of course, the girls all still look the same. ;-)

This may be the first time I've wanted to go back to "high school" in...well, forever. I've found myself scrolling through the directory, dredging up memories of people I knew at Boone. Some have dropped off the planet; others simply have dropped out of sight. It looks like less than 20 percent of the class will attend, but that segment holds some very fond memories.
My wife graduated from high school in Muscle Shoals, AL and her entire graduating class was smaller than the number of people attending this reunion.
We're arriving from LA at around 3 pm on Thursday, and going straight to the hotel. If anyone shows up, shout at us for dinner. We've already arranged with some people, but the more the merrier.

The reunion is indeed drawing close. In talking to some current friends, I note that many, if not most, say they'd never want to attend a high school reunion and also that they don't remember anyone anyway. I find it interesting to think that despite some of the "social challenges" typical of high school, accompanied by the "strangeness" of the times in 1968, I find that I am quite eager to see some/many/most of you again, and I am surprised that I remember you so vividly. Well, it is said that at a reunion such as this one, we'll all being thinking about each other: "I can't be as old as *you* look!" I guess we shall see.

Just a quick note -- thanks to Jim and the reunion commitment for their hard work.
I can't attend because of work travel.Jim suggested I use the message board to give a quick update since I've been gone from Orlando for some 36 years!
I finished a Chemistry degree and an MS in science education before landing in Issaquah Washington, great littel town in the mountains outside Seattle. Started there teaching physics and upper level math while my wife started a great little kindergarten that now has run for 32 years. I moved to split time between high school teaching and research scientist position at the UW med school, which lead to some very early work in the internet. I took that experrience to develop a program which resulted in my students and I netowreked the entire district for classroom internet access, a first in teh country. That lead to working at Microsoft, which is where I've been the last 9 years.
I currently run the Windows Logo program, working with hardware companies to improve their device compatibility with Windows. Pretty fun work, which gives me some international travel and lots of fun technology to play with before it hits the market.
To balance myself out, I'm an active bicyclist (bike commute), soccer player, and telemark skier. Indoors,I'm getting some decent fiddle licks down. Happily married with a daugther in Berkeley, CA finishing a Masters in human development and in her first year teaching.
Have a great reunion. Drop me an email or give a call if you are up in the Seattle area.
David

Our Reunion is getting close and now would be a great time to look again at the Lost and Found list to see if you can help us find more of our missing classmates.
Also, if you haven't registered for the event, please do so asap. We need to have enough advanced notice on our estimated attendance to make sure we have plenty of food and beverage in the Hospitality Suite on Friday evening and enough of everything for Saturday evening.
Please register today!
Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all there.

For your information...The dates for the dances held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church may not be accurate. Before attending a dance call the church on a weekday prior to the dance. I know the one for July 5th has been changed. Sorry for the continued misinformation.

Colonial High School's Class of 1968 has extended an invitation to members of Boone's Class of '68 to attend their 40th Reunion. The date is Sat., July 26th, 7 PM, at the Altamonte Hilton. Cost is $70 per per. in advance/ $85 at the door. Contact Ricky White at 352-383-9889 or e-mail noles0066@earthlink.net If you attended Howard Jr. High prior to attending Boone, you know that a number of Howard students went on to attend Colonial. Sounds like a good way to renew old friendships.

Posted on behalf of Bob Fuller and the Still Kickin' Band:
Starting in April (all dates below), the Still Kickin' Band will be doing the best of the 50's and 60's rock and roll at the Blessed Trinity Church and the dances are open to everyone. The church is working hard to make these events even bigger and better than the past years with the City of Orlando. Please come and if you have suggestions, don't be shy in coming up to me on stage (keyboard player) and letting me know. The church wants these events to be successful and is very willing to do whatever they can to meet the needs of all attendees. Here is the new location: Blessed Trinity Catholic Church 4545 Anderson Street Orlando, FL 407-277-1702 (about 3 traffic lights south of Conway and Curry Ford)
Please don't call the Church anytime too soon because you may get someone that is not familiar with any of the details. Beer and wine will be provided "free" but please be generous with your tips which will be paying for their overhead. I think there will be snacks but we are still working on those details. The price to get in has not been finalized but certainly somewhere between $5 to $10 per person isn't too much when, again, your beer and wine will be free. The dance dates are: April 19 July 5 Sept. 20 Dec. 6 It is a fun time with lots of people from the Boone graduating classes as well as our friends from Edgewater. Everyone who loves "live music" from the 50's and 60's will love the sounds and the dancing. It is not just a Boone and Edgewater dance, folks; they just do a great job of rounding up their classmates and getting to our dances. Better start planning and marking your calendar and getting your group together for a lot of fun. So many of you wanted to have these dances and we play them free. Bob Fuller Still Kickin' Band

I am working with the reunion committee and we are having a great time. I encourage all of you to plan on attending the 40th reunion this fall. Please check through the Lost & Found list and provide any info you may have on Classmates we have been unable to locate or who are no longer with us. We are working on an accurate directory which will be available at the reunion.
Can't wait to see you!

Last night in the state championship game at the Citrus Bowl, the Braves lost 41-0 to the too-tough Miami Northwestern team. Though not the ending hoped for, what a marvelous season it was.

Last night, Boone defeated Apopka 21-18 in the state semifinals and will play for their first-ever state championship against Miami Northwestern (reported in the Sentinel to be the No. 1 team in the nation) at the Tangerine, er... Citrus Bowl next Saturday. Another outstanding team effort.

For the out-of-towners: the Boone football team beat Boynton Beach Park Vista 13-6 in the state playoffs last night and are now 13-0 for the season. They play Apopka at Boone next Friday in the state semifinals. Great team effort!
